County Government Information Portal Using ArcIMS Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Michael Shean, Eric Weller Public access to county government information has traditionally required citizens to visit multiple locations. This process can often be time consuming for both the public and government staff, who must respond to their inquiries. However, Internet portals are now being successfully developed to simplify the process, supported by the public's increasing awareness of Internet capabilities. This paper presents how the government of Prince George's County, Maryland has responded to the changing needs of its citizens by developing an ArcIMS information portal. Topics of the paper include citizen input, multi-agency coordination, and an overview of current and future applications.
